The results of the 2010 LSN Member Staff Turnover Survey are being published to LSN members with the intent of assisting you in the area of workforce management and staff recruitment. A total of 135 organization members participated in the 2010 Salary Survey and 103 of those organizations provided turnover data for the 2010 survey.
The 2010 online survey categorized organizations as: (1) freestanding nursing homes; (2) freestanding assisted living communities; (3) freestanding independent living communities; and (4) CCRC’s. Because of the low number of respondents in certain categories, results for Assisted Living and Independent Living have been combined.
Turnover data are presented for all locations, by personnel category and level of care. Turnover is calculated based on the total number of employees in each category who quit, retired, or were otherwise permanently discharged in the 2010 calendar year (referred to as “number of employees terminated”) divided by the average number of employees in each category:
Number of employees terminated during 2010 X 100 = turnover %
Average number of employees
In the 2010 online survey, geographic location of organizations are defined as: (1) Chicago Metro; (2) Northwest IL; (3) Central IL; and (3) Southern IL. However, the results for Southern and Central Illinois have been combined due to a lower number of respondents.
2010 turnover rates for each category of personnel by level of care and location are provided. Data are not provided for any group of less than five (5) respondents in a particular category as findings would not be statistically valid.
